Well it was a lot of work but Aylin made it through Kindergarten! LOL! She worked hard (when she wanted too) and we are proud of her. Kindergarten has changed a lot, even since I quit teaching which was just a few years ago. They took spelling tests and timed addition and subtraction tests and had to be reading at a level C, all of which, honestly, seems a little crazy to me-but we did it!
The 1st picture is from their end of the year program, Aylin is the pink fish head on the right. The program was very cute and she STILL sings the shark song!
1st day of Kindergarten and the end of Kindergarten :) I sure wish they took those old cap and gown pics, those are so sweet at this age!
Kiki took off work and came to the program with us, you can see Hilton and Weston were very entertained by the Kindergarteners singing - lol
Aylin with Mrs. Powers, her Kindergarten teacher.
Aylin with Mrs. Graves, her Kindergarten assistant.
Aylin with Mrs. Audra, our friend from church, and her tutor because we need some one on one to function correctly.
Perhaps my favorite thing made by Aylin to come home from Kindergarten this year. I think I am going to try to have it enlarged and copied and framed :)
Kindergarten was rough on us and although I kind of knew it already, this year proved to me that Aylin needs strong structure and small group or one on one instruction/guidance. While we have always planned on homeschooling eventually, I think it will happen much sooner than later. Of course, getting up so early for school (7:40 start time) and some not-so-sweet language/behavior from other students didn't help our experience either.
