Our Ball Players

This year AJ played in her 2nd season of coach pitch softball and she has made some great improvements!  She only got 2 hits all of last season and this season she averaged 1 1/2 - 2 hits per game :)  She is also not as scared as before when the ball is hit or thrown to her - lol - We were really proud of her this season!

HI played in his 1st year of Tball :)  He really liked it and we enjoyed watching the craziness that is Tball -lol!

And W was just all over the complex, cheering for his brother and sister all season :)

The School Post

My AJ is moving on up to the 2nd grade.  School was better for her this year, but she still doesn't just love it the way I remember.  This first picture is her first and last day of 1st grade.  She had a wonderful teacher this year and made a couple of friends and I am very proud of how far she came along and how hard she worked.  I got to go work her field day which was fun :)   She will be changing schools this year, headed to the 2nd and 3rd grade school building, which is actually just across the street from us!

Of course, we worked so hard throughout the school year I couldn't stand the thought of her falling behind with the "summer slip" so we have been summer homeschooling (that is what she calls it) nothing to intense, just being sure to read a little everyday, keep up with our math, and she asked if she could learn cursive!  We found a beginners cursive handwriting workbook that we have been working through :)

HI has learned all the main colors, most of the shapes, and numbers 1-10 and we are spending his summer reviewing these things and working on writing his name.  We plan on starting on the alphabet in August.  This past spring he went to the same Thursday School that Aylin went to in the spring of her 3 year old year and he will go to a 2 day a week MDO for preK this year.

Most of the time we do school work while W is napping, but sometimes he gets in on the learning :)

We did a little art project a few weeks ago and made ocean themed coffee filter sun catchers! The kids really enjoyed it and we hung them on our back door.  AJ and I did all the cutting but each kid did their own coloring.

The Birthday Party Post

Our family has birthdays pretty close together, so we are going to throw them all into the same post.  Our first birthday is AJ's in May.  We went out for ice cream, out for sushi, took cookies to school for her friends and a sushi lunch to school for herself, and she used her birthday money to buy this:
She decided to have her very first all girl party :)  Actually, she decided to have a SPA party and I just wouldn't let her invite the boys -lol.   She picked out her cake design on pinterest and we had fun making it :)  (It is a nail polish bottle.) We made kool-aide lip gloss, each girl got a head band, a facial, a bottle of glitter nail polish, a bucket with their name on it (used for the foot soak), a plastic cup with their name on it, and of course, a pedicure and manicure :)

The next birthday was the hubbys :)  We went downtown for dinner and dessert and a date night out!

The boys both have birthdays in June and with summer as crazy busy as it is, we decided to just do a combined party for them.  They decided on an Avengers party and after a reschedule, had a great party!  They used their birthday money to buy balance bikes!
Our Avengers party:

Hilton LOVES cake pops and requested Avengers cake pops, so we made these for Captain America, Hulk, and IronMan :)

We set up an Avengers Academy and had training exercises:
Hawkeye's Target practice to shoot Ultron
Black Widow's Target Practice to shoot Hydra

Captain America's Shield throw to knock down Loki

And of course, Hulk Smash the PiƱata!

Can you tell I love Marvel?  I'm doing my best to pass it on to the boys ;)

My birthday is coming up in a month and I am looking forward to our next date night to celebrate.
